ReMaster of a friends song

My friend found out Ive been learning about this stuff, and doing a lot of work on it lately, trying to get used to it all.

He had originally asked me to mix his songs for him, but since all his beats he gets premade, and just adds the vocals on, he doesnt have actual multitracks for me to work on for him.

Instead what I did was took one of his songs in Reaper and did some remastering of it using Ozone3. Ill post the song in my profile, name of it is "Whatever happened to PeAcE".

It would be nice to be able to compare the two songs.

The instruments and the voice seem to have more room and the lows are more pronounced. In short, the song has more body and aggressiveness in my view. I like that, it's what the song needs.

Well done.

Thx...its not a pro job, since i was just doing it for a friend, and it gives me a bit of practice. But still good to hear I actually improved it, instead of making it worse lol.

I personally liked the new version better myself.

I used Reaper with Ozone3, added a little stereo widening on the mid-high & high ends...a little level peaking...also used EQ matching, since my friend likes the group ICP i loaded up one of their newer songs and used that to match up the EQs so his hopefully would end up sounding a bit more like the cds they put out. Oh yeah, and used the EQ on Ozone also to boost the low end a bit, felt like he didnt have quite enough bass in it.

Gotta agree with Nightcap for sure. Much better sounding and the low end has got some body to it. The vocals as well are much more present and sound good. They are upfront but not taking over the whole sound. The loop even sounds clearer in the second version. But the kick is the big difference. It stands out nicely and drives things along.
