One of my very first songs. Written last night

'Your Hands'
Voice: A granny to her granddaughter

1. Over the years
Child, your hands will be changing
Soft and gentle to
Bent, worn and tired
So look at your hands
They will tell of life's story
Of times past and gone
When like me you're retired

2. Draw in the sand
Feel the grains through your fingers
Make your first mark and
Trace out your name
So look at your hands
They will tell you life's stories
Of times yet to come
We have all done the same

3 I was like you
A whole world full of wonder
Write and drawing ??
????
So look at your hands
They will tell serve you forever
In times ???????

I would really appreciate your feedback and suggestions for the lines causing me problems. Tune is written and is quite hymnal

Cheers
P

Hey eospete,

They are some nice lyrics.

3 I was like you
A whole world full of wonder
Writing and drawing, regretful of thunder.

So look at your hands
They will serve you forever
In times when I'm lost i shall always remember.

I could have run with Chunder, or , land down under :)

Thought i'd keep it real, as it were

Going by the rhyming pattern of the first two verses..

I was like you
The world full of wonder
Writing and drawing\learning
New things every day

So look at your hands
They will serve you forever
Unless they get cut off in a horrible machinery accident

Just kidding...

So look at your hands
They will serve you forever
And in times when you need
You can fold them to pray
