One of my first memories was sitting alone in the living room watching one of his HBO specials with my ear against the speaker and my hand on the volume control so my parents wouldn't hear. I didn't understand most of the jokes at that age but I was just so attracted to his wit and mannerisms. Carlin defined comedy to me, along with two or three entire generations.
