creative audigy platinum cant open playcenter

whenever i click on the icon to open the program, it doesn't- the prog won't open. I also can't open the creative recorder program. things done so far:
1 downloaded AUD_EAX4DRV_.exe drivers
2 upgraded to playcenter 3.02.52
3 attempted to open from start menu and
also from icon in program files(think-
ing maybe desktop shortcut file was
corrupted
4 checked device mgr for conflicts
5 attempted to re-install sw but couldn't. whenever i tried to use "add/
remove programs, got error msg: "an in-
stallation support file could not be installed. the system cannot find the specified file.
OS is win XP pro
Any help would be app. Anyone know of a good 3rd party program that would un-
install the program?

You will probably need to do a full system restore back to a point before you started installing updates.

It sounds like the update got corrupted by either a program running in the background while it was installing or the download was corrupt. Either way that is probably the best solution.

The other alternative is to contact Creative tech support. That will not be the easiest thing to do from what I have heard. But some have had fair luck in getting them to help out.
