Help UX2... again

With all your help, I had gotten my UX2 to work with my Mac laptop by switching to its right side USB port. I am trying to record with two microphones, and have a nagging issue. Gearbox works fine, but as I play and sing alone, when I least expect it, there will be a little pop(s), or a very loud static/hiss popping in. I don't think I am clipping the input or output, cannot figure if it is caused by bad cable, or maybe some ground problem, or perhaps still a USB problem? Sound cards were mentioned as causing problems but I don't know how I would shut it off/control it. Before I dismantle everything and haul in my desktop to try its USBs, I was wondering if there are any suggested remedies? Thanks

I would either set your buffer a little higher (I run it at 256), or try adjusting your tonedirect slider to the right to free up your CPU abit. By default it is almost all the way left (super low latency), one click to the right should free up your CPU enough to not pop and will be more than fast enough to track with.

I was tinkering with that. When you say "buffer", which exactly do you mean?

When you open your control panel for your UX2 (mine is called "Line 6 Audio Midi Devices") under the driver tab is default buffer, 256 is safe for tracking without audible latency and you turn it higher when mixing and applying effects.

Cpt

Thanks for help!

I feel like kind of a dope to say this, but I think "fixed" problem. I disabled wireless, which is very sweet but apparently collides with UX2, then unpredictable hisses and pops went away. Was maddening as noise would always appear just as I began recording! Thought it hated my voice.

I still haven't seen the buffer setting on my Mac OS 10, only see the CPU control, but maybe you run a different operating system/version.

BIG THANKS!

The buffer setting should be in the UX2 control panel, not in the Mac controls at all. It might be the CPU control though on a Mac.
