what digital multitrack should I buy?

I really want to buy a home multitrack, but not sure which one would be right for me. I'm positive I want something digital. I've checked into most of the Boss line. I just want something simple and affordable and easy to make copies of my work. If I can get the BR-8 for $400 or so should I jump on it or shell out $500 extra bucks and get the 1180 with CDR?

Ever considered using your computer? That is what many of us do here, though some use multitracks? Is that considered or are you sold on the stand-alone digital multitrack, if so, what sells you on it?

yes I am sold on a standalone. My computer is in the middle of our dining room which isn't a very creative place for me. I have a room in our house dedicated to all my music stuff. I like the user friendliness of the "old" analog tape multrackers, but the cleanliness of the digital domain. Although, another piece of my criteria is that I would like to be able to use my computer after doing the recording so I can burn copies onto CDR's. Is that possible with the BR8? If so, is there much other expenses involved?

Roland has software that allow's the tracks you record to be exported as .wav file's so you can edit them or do whatever yo like in the PC domain. You can mix down on the Br-8 and then export your final stereo mix to the PC for burning.

If you are that sold on the stand alone DAW, you might save yourself a step by going for the 1180 with the burner. The editing is a little deeper and a few more goodie's are on board. It's all a matter of how much you think you will use it.
