unknown connection on old reel to reel

I recently bought a otari mx5050 and the input to the record head is some weird 10 pin connection that I have never seen before. I pretty sure the otari is version qxhd. Can someone help me figure out what type of cable I need to connect to the reel to reel from a mic preamp. I posted a picture <a href="www.tracmix.com/otari3.jp...here</a>.
Thanks.

You can try going right to the source. otari mx5050

It is a special breakout type cable connection which should be for channels 3 and 4.

The unit should actually have XLR for input and output.

Is it a 2 track or 4 track version? Some of the 2 tracks actually played back a 4 track tape though. Can you post a full pic of the front and back?

sure. by the way, I haven't actually received the unit yet, it is still being shipped so I can't look over it in detail (the previous owner doesn't know much about it either)

Well hopefully he will be sending the breakout cables with the unit. And as I stated, those are a proprietary plug connection for their special breakout cable.

Here is a direct link to Otari by the way. I forgot to post it last night.

That unit is missing the amplifier stage - basically the inputs and playback recording switches etc were all in an outboard unit that connects to the transport you are showing. This IS a 4-track unit, made in 1979 according to the serial pictured, just like the one I have sitting in my soon-to-be-studio. You will not be able to do much of anything with this deck without that amplifier head. I just spoke with Otari this morning and there are very few parts around for these units.
