I have it but haven't had a chance to listen yet.

forty, I'm digging the drive out of the studio box and will post a remix or two when I have it set up in the surfbox.

I'll probably like it if its out there either way.

there's one song that had parts i liked. head down. bad verse, but a hook in the chorus, in the chords.

i just think ya gotta have hooks, man. i dunno what's up with trent.

radiohead too, for that matter. people get big, they stop caring about hooks.

never forget hooks!

He already has another album out? I just now got ghosts. Its taken me a few years just to write 6 songs. And I only have vocals for 2 of them. I wish I could pump out songs like reznor.

I'm downloading now.

Honestly I think he is putting stuff out there for the remixer's at the moment. Not sure, but I do agree that once they are famous they can do what they like. Many have done it before and many more will do so after.

Sometimes it is just a teaser while the big project is getting worked on. Sometimes though they turn out good. Like Further down the Spiral which was fantastic. And all the remixes after Pretty Hate Machine were stellar as well.

yeah but don't forget, it took him years between albums at first. PHM in 1990 or 91, spiral in 94, and the fragile in like 1999 or something.

There were lots of little collections in between them as well though. Also he was doing lots of producing and movie sound track stuff during that time as well. Also some collaborative stuff in there too.

I don't think I'm going to get to listen until the weekend but I'll post back when I do.

I just got it last night and I've listened to it. I did about half of the songs right away, and to be honest I was like that with year zero, it grew on me and i had to be in the mood for a few songs. Unlike the old days with PHM , that CD (or tape) you can pop in and jam out to all the songs when ever. I do like a lot of the new stuff, i think the guy is having fun being free with his music. I liked that fact that i could get the new one at 24/96.

i just want more hooks. and less of a focus on all things dance.

yeah noize, i know about (and have many of) the remix albums. i noticed some of them were good in their way. like fixed, and further down the spiral. but i was just talking about main albums. those remix things are not for everyone. i could get into them if i were more patient, i guess. but i did get into ghosts right away. only heard it once all the way through, but will listen many more times. there are little things in there that make it creative instead of boring.

i do not feel the same way about the slip at all, tho.

I kind of have to agree with Geoff on the fact he might just be having fun with it. Thus giving it away for free.

Ya, Ghosts had something that just sucked me in. The boyz and I tossed it in the car and listened to the whole thing straight through on a long drive up north. There were a couple moments that I thought they might get bored but when I asked if I should change it they both smacked me and said don't touch it we wanna hear the whole thing. Ghosts seemed to just suck us in. We've listened through it 3 times now all non stop and it hasn't seemed boring yet.

I gotta say forty you are making me more curious now as to what the slip sounds like now, I'm not sure what to expect.

i remember an interview where trent said the long delays between albums were because of his drug addiction.
