..hi,

I am a total Newb to music production, although I have been rappin' for a few years now.

I have borrowed my mates comp with Cubase SX 3 (not buying it myself, i'm skint and not stealing it off net) while he's out of the country for a few months..so I can get some unique beats working..

Anyways, i've popped a USB Midi keyboard into the USB slot, the notification popped up that it was installed and ready to go (it's plug & play)..

..Anyhoo, when I go into Device Setup -> All midi inputs the usb audio device is not showing up there...this means I can't select it, and in turn this means I don't have any method of MIDI input.

I've been looking on internet for 2 days searching for help, i'm totally stressed now..any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Can you see it in the Windows control Panel? If so then it is truly installed. If not you may need to try a hunt for specific drivers for it.

although they do state that most are plug and play some do need drivers installed to function in certain software.

I have not used Cubase in years but you may need to go a bit deeper then device set up to first get the drivers known in Cubase.

Another point is it may not identify itself by name. It may be a completely generic name such as USB Audio Codec or something competely off the wall.
