Can i send two acoustic bass drum triggers to say the roland td-3 tom1 and tom2 inputs and assign bassdrum sounds to the tom inputs and then send the headphone out to a mixer where everything else is mic'd? So i can get a better bassdrum sound, im not trying to be perfect just better than bass drum mics straight to mixer. thanks in advance.

If you're recording on PC, then you can replace the drum hits.

Reaper does this nice with a fft analyzer/gate, feeding to a sample player.

I know you may not be using reaper, but the method should be duplicatable on other programs as well.

Otherwise, sounds like your method is valid. I'd certainly give it a try. Should work well. Just don't use the headphone volume too high. It may overdrive whatever you're sending it to.

Cool, I've played with this setup in reaper, and used a headset mic to put in a 'smack' sound by hitting the mic.

Then I replace it with a kick. Then record another one, and replace that with a snare.

Then another one, and replace that with cymbals. It's pretty cool. I end up with a whole drum kit, that was just made by me hitting a headset mic.

If you have the drum track, then it should be pretty easy to just use the replacer plugin to replace your kick. I suppose you could use an EQ in front of it if you have some bleed in the kick signal.

If you're pads are dual trigger you'd use TRS (balanced/stereo) 1/4 inch cable, if not instruments cable is fine.

they arent dual trigger they are the roland acoustic kick triggers so im guessing instrument is fine, and would the same be true for the output of a module to a mixer.
