Cubase: multiple time signature changes in tempo track

Hey guys, 1st post on here so forgive any 'noob-isms':
Im trying to record a track in Cubase SX3 where there are multiple changes to the time signature:
Basically, the riff im writing is in 4/4 but the tails are in 5/4 and Im wanting to change the tempo track to allow the metronome to accommodate this as it really throws me off when the metronome/click track goes outta whack due to the extra beat in the tails.

I know how to change the time signature in the tempo track once (globally if u like) but not how to do multiple changes of the time signature.

Now, I know how to create multiple instances of tempo/bpm change within the tempo track and I figured that the same would apply to changes in time signature: i.e Use the draw tool to select where in the song you want to change the tempo, then type your new tempo into the box at the top of the tempo track window.
I tried doing this the same way but changing 4/4 to 5/4 in the time box and nothing.

Any ideas as it's blagging my head
thanks
James

Thanks to Tadpui's contribution to another thread I have found out how to do this:

Open the tempo track. click on the pencil tool.

The main area of this window is the tempo area. It has a grid watermark on it. If you look directly above the tempo area, there's an area that's the same color as the tempo area but no grid, its directly below the black area that has your bars/beats/seconds or whatever...this "inbetween" area is the time signature area. Click in there at the spot in the song where you want to change time signatures and it'll add a default 4/4 time signature event. Click on the event and you can then go to the top of this window and choose a new time signature. The time signature will change from there up until the next time signature event.

can you clue me up on the tempo change thing?
i've tried it but havent had much luck using drum loops.

do i have to use hits and slices first?
ive tried it 2 ways, doing hits n slices and just setting the tempo to change in the tempo track, either way it sounds like the drums are chopped up and spiratic.
cant for the life of me see what's wrong.
im thinkin im stuffin up the hit points thing.

Unless the loop is Acidized or whatever format Cubase follows it won't follow the tempo changes. It must be given that information before it can be stretched or shrunk to fit the new tempo.

They have a certain code embedded in them that tells the DAW or loop playback pluggin what the meter, key, tempo and duration is on each different clip of audio. Without that it will not stretch or shrink properly.

There is a freeware pluggin out there called Acidizer and it works quite well for this stuff. Although I use the loop creation tools supplied with my Cakewalk software I do also use SoundForge and Acidizer as well.

That allows you to tell the DAW or whatever exactly what it needs to know to time stretch or shrink the loop and keep the proper tempo and or key.
