Hey guys!
I've finally got a tune up for critique. I recorded this one with my band (Actually, there were only 2 people at the time...) last Saturday and I'm really pleased with the mix. It was recorded in Sonar and mastered with Ozone. I did the Drums, Bass, and Backup vocals. The song is actually a slicked-up punk remake of the old hymn, "I will call upon the Lord." I hope you like it :-)

Feb 18, 2003 11:49 am Not bad at all! I would say for the genre you are working in very nice! I know the song and have played it a few times myself in a gospel band I sometimes still sit in with on occasion. I am going to send it to the lead guitarist, he will love it!
Welcome addition the the repetior here!
Thanks!
Feb 18, 2003 12:26 pm Thanks a lot for the encouragement :-) I hope your friend enjoys it! Anybody else?

Feb 18, 2003 08:39 pm Ya, nice job muffins. I have heard several redone gospel tune's and religious stuff. But not quite with that edge on it. Well done.

Feb 19, 2003 12:29 pm Ok, time for a sickenly sweet emotional babble, totally usless, and meaningless,..start violins.. with heart felt, gut wrenching... fade in flute.. honesty.. up bottom end double bass bowed with chello and soft gong...Zoom in on sad old fart..
One of my favorite bands, The House of the Rison Son, did that tune and many more for services, conventions, etc. Our version was contemporary for the time and hit home with a lot of folks our age. We have since slowed down our performances as naturally younger folks do not connect as well to our version. I am very pleased to see that the tradition carries on! Wonderfull messages in these tunes if folks can connect. So I say onto you "carry on my wayward son!" for it is a marvelous thing you do! Do I connect? No, but that is of no concern.
Your recording by the way is very good!
End all sickening sweet crap and onto MTV!
Feb 19, 2003 06:04 pm I really feel the emotion, Walt :-)
I know what you mean; it's great when you can take an old tune like that and do something with it that people can really get into. Thanks again.

Feb 19, 2003 08:38 pm Uh, Walt, its not MTV any more. At least in my house and the rest of the neighborhood. It is Much Music USA. A canadian outfit that pretty much blows MTV's doors off. Even I watch it for some of the stuff they play. They get into some old vid's once in awhile and have a much bigger rotation then MTWee ever dreamed of these days. Anyway, I am not a big TV person, but if there ain't nothin good on the SPEED Channel, I will flip on Much Music and see what's new and exciting.

Feb 19, 2003 10:54 pm Oh Poop, You caught me. Tryin to fit in with the younger crowd again. Truth is, outside of an ocasional biography, history, science, or news cast, I don't turn the thing on.
Feb 20, 2003 10:08 pm Yeah, all I do is watch the Fox News Channel. There really isn't much good stuff on these days... TV is really pretty sad now. I've got 100 channels and all I usually watch is one. It's too bad that one channel is a cable channel. I could be saving a lot of money if that wasn't the case...
