Mar 11, 2008 08:32 am Just delete the file...AVG has a delete button in there someplace.

Mar 11, 2008 11:13 am You should be able to empty the vault...if your computer is already working fine without those files in place, then you should be able to get rid of them without problems (if they're in your vault, then they've been moved there from their original location).
Unless you really feel like keeping the files, then you can attempt to disinfect them. I haven't tried that approach, I just delete them.
Beware BitTorrent ;)

Mar 12, 2008 09:30 pm BitTorrent is OK as long as it isn't abused and you only use a good client like Azureus or the like. AVG works with Azureus to check incoming files before anything bad happens.

Mar 13, 2008 05:37 am I still managed to wreck my PC by making a bad decision to download a file. It was through Azureus too, but I didn't think to scan the thing before I opened it. On the bright side, I got to figure out how the system restore function works on my new computer.

Mar 13, 2008 06:02 pm viruses? sounds like you guys are useing a bad operating system! :)
It's funny though... I did a TCO calculation between my XP DAW and my first linux DAW... simply not having to run virus and spyware scans would cover the difference in 'cost' in about a week... I think it was like 30 hours for an XP DAW and 35 for the first linux one... but that was also trying to do it with slackware :)

Mar 13, 2008 10:29 pm Tadpui, that is the only downfall with BitTorrent sometimes. Any part can contain a virus. That is why I keep AVG tied to it so it can scan as the parts come in.
I've learned to scan everything even from KVR and the like. You simply never know what might be in there.
