There are a few unofficial, unconfirmed yet fairly reliable sources that indicate he will retire:

I hope it's true. I've always wanted him to go out with a bang, and I say that this past season qualifies.

Yeah, I heard that.

Very sorry for your loss, Jim...he had to eventually...only one record left to break and that one doesn't matter anyway.

I'm cool with it. It won't be as much fun watching the Packers play...they'll undoubtedly have a few down years. But I love the guy, and I'm very happy for him to have ended his career in Green Bay, and after a season he can be proud of.

I wonder what he'll do now...

I think that if the Pats had not signed Randy Moss and instead the Packers had scooped him up, Farve would undoubtedly play next year. I couldn't blame him one bit if he retired, but you'd think that his team is positioned to be division champs again this season. That should probably be enough reason to give it one more shot to see if they can make it all the way in the relatively weak NFC.

Yep, I can see his point of leaving on his own terms. Not being forced out because he is slipping away and not performing. He is leaving at the top of his game and with the respect he deserves. I'm guessing he will be on one of the networks as a commentator or something.

He said, "I'm just mentally tired." Who wouldn't be after sixteen years in the NFL, even as a water boy.

I say good for you, Fahrerve. It's good to quit before you break a hip or something. Old guys have to keep their sense.
