I was doing some research for one of my clients who does podcasting and came across this home-made vocal booth. I bought enough stuff to build two of them - and I already sold the second one to my client for $50 - so it was free to me.

Feb 27, 2008 11:58 am Those are cool, but they don't address my biggest problem, which is sound bouncing off of the wall BEHIND me and being picked up by the mic. Look at pictures of recording studios, they'll have a big old baffle behind the singer/guitar player. Kind of like this old school picture:
It makes sense, seeing as that is the direction that the microphones are pointing.

Feb 27, 2008 12:19 pm Those mic stands are insane! I could use one for the K2, it is heavy and using the boom arm of standard stands makes em pretty tippy. They look like an engine hoist.

Feb 27, 2008 12:54 pm I think this could produce a cool effect, but for standard vocal recording I'm just not so sure. Not against trying it I suppose.
Feb 27, 2008 01:01 pm I figured I would give it a try - I think the premise behind it was for people who travel and record their vocals in hotel rooms, etc - cause they really stress the "putting it in your suitcase" thing.
I will post some sound results when I get mine made.
Anybody have any suggestions for comparing?

Feb 27, 2008 01:07 pm I am definitely curious to hear some samples.
I still have people sing into my closet.
Feb 27, 2008 01:13 pm I thought about what you had said about sound bouncing off the walls behind - I am looking on craigslist for an office portable partition - that should help me with the problems you described GuitarJim.
Thanks for the heads up!
