so i have the software, sonar 7 and reason 4. i am planning on getting the m audio keystone 61 controller to operate it. which connection is better. usb or midi? my sound card will be able to accept the midi directly or i can plug it into the usb on the front hub of my computer

MIDI is sending a low number of 1's and 0's nothing else.
Either will work fine from a data transfer point of view. Beyond that you need to see if you have any issues with the software and either of them.
If you really mean a USB Hub (as in external hub) it's possible that could create some issues for you.

Feb 07, 2008 07:50 pm I do recommend against using the front USB input ports. For some reason they seem to have drop out issues. I am of the belief that is because it is hooked into the system more like an external USB hub would be. And as tony stated that is not a good way to go for those type of devices.
