Feb 03, 2008 09:49 am I would think post pre-amp if I'm intrepting this right. You gotta have some drive for the compresser/gate to be able to respond to the signal. That is why they put the insert after the pre-amp on a mixer.

Feb 03, 2008 11:51 am Yeah, what Walt said. You'll want the compressor to be the last effect in the chain before your input, this way it affects the entire signal.
