I'm moving out of my studio space and the guy I'm sharing the space with is offering to purchase my AKG Perception 200 from me, I wanted to upgrade to a more professional sound i wouldn't mind dropping up to a couple hundred, i just wanna know what's good out there. SO MANY MICS to choose from.

Thanks Guys!

Mike

I don't think you're gonna upgrade by spending a $200. That's a solid mic. $200 won't get you a more professional sound (whatever that means) There are so many factors in a good sound that a mic alone will not make the difference.

I don't know how much better they'd be, but a lot of people really like the AT2020, and the Rode NT1A. I'm pretty pleased with my Studio Projects C1 & B3.

I think I agree with Tony, though, that for 200 or so, you may not be much better than the akg P200.

Though, then again, it may be. Worth taking a listen, if you can work it.

You mean dropping a couple hundred on top of the 200 your getting from the sale? If that's the case, now we are talking.

My only experience with a nice\r mic is the Rode K2. I love it as do 99% of other people. I think the reviews at ZZounds speak for themselves. I know I always pimp this mic and may seem like a fanatic, but it truly is spectacular.

Although $700 from music stores there are some going for under $500 on Ebay.

Thanks guys!

I meant to say that i was going to sell the mic, and use that money towards a new mic. I know that the next mic I want to purchase will cost a lot more than usual, but I feel i'm past the beginning stages of recording, and I want to focus on providing better quality sound for my clients.

You guys help out a LOT and I really do appreciate it!
