My cubase le crashed after recording a vocal track. I have restarted the computer, uninstalled and reinstalled the software and still either get a message which says "song name.crp" (or whatever the file extension is in cubase)is not a valid file name or the program will shut down whenever I try to open a window. My computer seems to working fine; all other programs run properly. Any ideas?

Jan 01, 2008 10:09 pm Can you open any other files in Cubase? It sounds like the file itself may have gotten corrupted. Maybe try and find the wav files as they should be stored in the song file folder. Then you can start a new file and simply import them into it.
Jan 01, 2008 10:20 pm No, couldn't open anything. Wouldn't even let me open a new project window. Every time I tried to open anything in cubase, the program shut down.

Jan 01, 2008 11:19 pm Something got corrupted in the registry then. Try a complete un install and then go in your registry and cleano out any related Cubase or Steinberg data entry's. Then try a fresh install and you should be good to go.
I had that happen when I was testing a lite version of Ableton Live and it went bunk on me. The only cure was to do a complete wipe and start from scratch.

Jan 03, 2008 08:17 pm Sorry I haven't replied sooner. Got back to my pc and did an uninstall\reinstall and it worked. Everything seems to be working ok now. Weird huh? Been doing analog for a long time and this computer thing is a little foreign to me. Thanx!
