does anyone know how to make it so your computer constantly reads a firepod? mine is fine for a few seconds and then the computer just "forgets" its plugged in or somethin. it used to work fine and now its just screwin up.

my guess is that its the PCI card for the firewire... thats the only thing different im using from last time i had it all set up. but even then, it does read the firepod for a few seconds, the cord isnt bein touched, and its disconnecting.

could it be the PCI card not working properly with the computer? i highly doubt that its a bad connection between the cord and the card

I would definitely check to see if there are updated drivers for your PCI firewire card. Wouldn't hurt to check drivers for the firepod itself either.

Have you tried going into your computer sound settings and setting the firepod as your default audio input/output? My Tascam US-144 did the samething until I made it my default audio device.

i definately forgot about the firewire drivers... ill get on that.

the firepods drivers are updated. its set to default too.

like i said, everything is set up the same way as last time. the only difference is im using a different PCI card. and the firepod is working with the computer... but for some reason, it stops responding after a little bit. t doesnt make sense to me at all

Maybe time to look at buffer settings, and perhaps try a fresh install of all the latest drivers and your ASIO. When I was troubleshooting my Tascam, I had to totally wipe the registry clean of the old drivers by hand and reinstall ONLY the new drivers and firmware to get it to work right.

The motherboard could be bad.

Have you been (dis)connecting in the firepod while the computer is already running? Have you been doing this while powering the firepod off the firewire buss?

You know, I have heard of issues with firepod before from a friend. He tried using it on his MAC and said it was a real pain in the butt. Not saying it's a bad product, but it does seem to be a little picky about setups. Just an observation though as I never purchased one.

This really sucks though, I am using ECHO hardware, it is connected before I even boot to windows (I can hear my guitar through my monitors right after bios screens) and has never... ever... disconnected on me.

Also one thing ot thinnk of is that the Firewire card may not be compatible with the Firepod. They state pretty clearly that anything other then the Texas Instrument chip on the firewire card could cause issues, and the disconnect is one that I have heard of several times.

huh... thanks noize. thats probably the case.

there were 2 firewire cards in this computer before. i only used one of them and it always worked fine.

well my bassist borrowd the firepod and the card to record his friends grand piano. he said the whole time it worked fine for him.

the card im using now defiantely doesnt have TI marked on it or any of the chips connected to the card. so thats probably the case.

the first link has it in stock again. thanks alot man.

oh and for the card im using, by the way, i found out it has a 5v port on the inside part of the card. the outter 2 are 3.3v ports.

i plugged it into that, and BAM! it worls fine. im thinking... maybe TI only uses 5v ports and thats why it works with TI. it could also be the fact that not everyone knows about firewire cards so technically and so presonus just says to use a TI card (thats, if they only use 5v ports) and may be gettin some money for puttin TI's name on their products... idk thats my theory
