i recently purchased an Alesis Micron and i was wondering if I could get some tips on recording it. will a simple USB MIDI Interface do the job, or is there more to it. let me know everyone.

Dec 18, 2007 12:26 pm i would use either the midi outs or the trs outs over the usb. You could either run it direct at line level, or run it through an amp and mic that.

Dec 18, 2007 02:48 pm MIDI will only record the MIDI data sent by the Micron, not the sounds you're hearing when plugged into it. If you're interested in recording the digital midi data for later playback, then yes, the usb-midi adapter will record that.
I've heard that playing through an amp and mic'ing the speaker cabinet is the way to record keyboards.
But, for easy, I just plug my juno-d straight into my mixer board line inputs. You could plug the cable into line inputs on a regular soundcard, but you would need a converter, to go from 1/4" to 1/8". Otherwise, no problem.
I'm not entirely set up to record through an amp, so I do it the easy way.
