yeah, basically you want the mics to the preamp, then the preamp to the mixer....if you have 1/4" (balanced) outputs on your preamps, it's best to use those, as you can completely bypass the mixer's mic pre's by plugging into the "line input" instead of the "mic input".

if your mic pre's have S/PDIF or ADAT outs and your interface has inputs for them, then yeah, you can bypass the whole mixer itself (at least when getting signals into the computer) and generally that's a good thing to do to get a cleaner (less noise) signal recorded.

so u say from the mics i go to the pream and then the mixer and then the audio interface?lots of people i asked they say that the go first to the mixer then to the preamps and then to the audio interface?..so let me get this right i put the mics to the preamp the i send the to the mixer with mic cables or jack and the i send the to the audio interface with adar or spdf?the preamp and the audio interface dosnt connect at alla or i must all connect them?for example .the preamp with the mixer and the audio interface via xlr cables and adat and the mixer with the audio interface with what connections?xlr or adat?isnt good to god from the mics..tothe mixer and then to the audio interface with xlr cables for all of them?

ok i'm going to need to know specifically what you're working with (if ya fill out your profile, this can make problem solving much easier)....

basically you want to keep your signal path as short as possible....

most people use mixers because they have many mic pre amps built right into them...if you're interface already has mic pre's in it....than it is absolutely pointless to send a signal through the mixer's preamps on it's way to the computer.

i'm going to stop there until i know what your setup is.
