presonus problem...lousy audio interface in nuendo connection help please

i have a presonus firepod..i have a problem with the connections..i friend o f me showed me how to make the connection in nuendo and he make a stereo input and he assigned input1L and input2R
when i tri to make the same thing in the connections it shows me input1L and next is input2R it has 8 connections not 16 like it shoud in stead of having input1L input1R input2L input2R it has input1L input2R so i cant write in stero usinh one mic i have to use a pair of mics but thats not right..whats happening?can someone help me?

yeah you when you create a new track in nuendo, there should be an option to set it as a mono track (one mic) or a 'stereo linked' track which would use two inputs and record it as one "stereo" track on the computer....

when using two or more mics, you want to record them to two separate mono tracks.

stereo does not = sound out of both speakers and mono does not = sound out of one speaker only....you can pan a mono signal anywhere between both speakers, and it will still be a mono source.

so its not a problem with the firepod right?it is ok tha it is like that
i want to buy the motu 192 is that a good choice?i wanna run a pro studio..what is the best audio interface for that?is it best to have many analog ins and out like the 192 or some adat and optical like the motu 24 whick has many and the 192 dont have at all

Ya, the Firepod will only have 8 inputs. 1L 2R 3L 4R and so on. So in the end you will have 4 sets of stereo inputs.
