Music excercise paid off... I think

So once in awhile I turn on the 57 and an LDC and just jam out riffs on acoustic. I try to write short simple songs as in the excercise mentioned awhile awhile back.

Anyway, this riff came out sounding ok and a melody just jumped into my head. I wrote some quick lyrics and slapped em down.

The recording is rough (chair squeaks, fiddly fumbles) and there is a slip up here and there. I think I will do a simple solo of the intro and outro with some humming or something when I get around to doing a cleaner recording.

The song is called "Hey", what do you think?

Awesome! I love the sound you get from your guitar. Vocals are nice. I've been listening to a lot of mid-60s Donovan lately, and that's what this reminds me of. Lyrics are very good, and they fit the music quite well.

Good one...on the iPod it goes!

Way to go, it's good to hear that good old fashion song writing is alive and kicking and done well.

Yep, playlist bound this one is.

Gotta agree on the nice sound. For a rough quicky this is really good. Nice to settle down with for the evening. And agree on the lyrics fitting well into the song also. Both guitar and vocal sound great. Nice and natural.

So from you Midi cats, you think some midi stringwork would sound cool during the outro? I have a minor change I did and I'm thinking some very subtle synth might be cool.

Ya, strings or a gentle kind of stringy sounding pad. Something with a brassy sound to it that kind of filters around would work if you don't have a string sound available.
