Recording through an Alesis 3630

What's up HRC. I am going to record vocals through an Alesis 3630 compressor with the output from my firebox and I would like to know what are some good settings for my compressor. I normally have used a 4:1 software compressor within Nuendo but I am looking to record more solid vocals...any suggestions oh great and wise one.

I'd leave the noisy 3630 out of the picture altogether and just continue to use software compression.

The 3630 can be modded rather cheaply and easily to eliminate the noise as well. Here is a boat load of links for them. www.google.com/search?hl=...ods&spell=1

It is fairly moderate. I used to use one in the studio because of its unique character. Depending on the stuff you are recording you may not even notice it. IF they are extremely soft vocals it might show up. But it is a very subdued sort of white noise, very low usually.
