OK this has nothing to do with music, but maybe some of you guys can help me. I have a good amount of Shows on my DirectTv Hd-DVR (its basically a Tivo) I was wondering if you gues knew how i can get the shows off of the DVR onto my computer? what do i need?
I have an external DVD burner with RCA plugs on the back, a red and white one.
can i use that?

Oct 20, 2007 03:44 am you need hook up your HD DVR's audio and video outputs into your external DVD burners inputs (red, white *audio* AND yellow *video*....hook your tv's inputs to the dvd burners outputs and you'll be set.

Oct 20, 2007 12:17 pm If it only has the 2 RCA connection's it is probably audio only then.
You can find a pretty low priced unit for capturing the video and audio though. I know Pinnacle at one time had one and now they are pretty common. Most are USB so you would be good to go.

Oct 20, 2007 12:37 pm I just use a regular DVR Player/Recorder, they're cheap and then you can just take the DVD to your computer and with software such as MyDVD you can edit out commercials (if neccessary) remove junk at the beginning/end and burn one to keep.
