Hey all,
I posted this video in a different thread but I thought I would put it here as well. This thread is intended to discuss the setup more so than the song.
The setup was;
Ayotte custom drum kit
(4x) Shure Beta 57 (Snare, Hi Tom, Low Tom, Floor Tom)
(2x) Apex 180 (OHL and OHR)
(1x) Studio Projects B1 (Hi-hat)
(1x) AKG D112 (Kick)
(2x) AKG C3000 (Room L, Room R)
The MP3 of the song Future Mr. X is in my profile. I haven't spent a lot of time mixing. I just did some panning so what you are hearing are really raw drums tracks using the above mics.

Oct 16, 2007 07:10 pm Yep, now knowing what is were I can see that it was merely an illusion that I was seeing something behind the drummer in the other thread.
Do you like those Apex mic's for OH's? I was looking at a pair used, but can't twist my own arm enough to get them.

Oct 17, 2007 03:07 am Hi Noise, the APEX mics have worked great. The ones I have came with two capsuls for different patterns. It was part of a studio pack that included two of the pencil condensers and 1 MDC. We use the MDC for a lot of our vocals. I've heard that their ribbon mics are really good and I think that may very well be one of my next purchases.

Oct 17, 2007 09:35 pm Ya, Ben our buddy that owns a couple of Music Go Round stores has a matched pair of MK-012's that are the old style with 3 different capsules. He validated the serial's and they are true Oktava mic's. about about 18 years old from what I gathered. So they are from the original Russian factory. I am tempted as I have been looking for a set for a while but simply haven't found any of the older ones.
But I also was looking at a matched pair of the Apex mic's as well.
