I want to buy a new I\O audio-interface in order to record audio to my pc.

I have looked on the internet and got very confused.

My gear requires:

6 1\4" analog stereo i\o
2 digital optical stereo i\o
1 digital coaxial stereo i\o

I have taken a look on a zzound's audio interface like this:
Mark of the Unicorn (MOTU) 2408 mk3

It has good analog i\o but what is ADAT and TDIF?!
how is it 24 digital channels?

Is it good for me?
Do i need to look for others stuff?
Please help me since im bad at hardware configuration.
Thank you very much!

That is some pretty serious demands on the digital side with two opticals. What is your budget?

I think with that type of situation I may get something simpler for the analog I/O's and look for a digital add on card for the digitals.

2 AES/EBU (XLR) digital is also good instead of the 2 Opticals.

if Opticals are a problem what audio interfaces has many AES/EBU (XLR) i\o?
I might buy more digital gear so i wouldent want to be stock.

analog are not important also because i think i would sell some of my old gear anyway.

Thank you!

majestik, the MOTU unit is just waht you need. The ADAT light pipe is your digital optical i/o and there are 3 channels of it which are 8 channels on each light pipe. And the s/pdif is your coaxial connections. That interface is a great unit. I have set up quite a few of them in other studios and they are a breeze to work with.

Thank you you are right!

is there any wat to also connect AES/EBU?
is a Format Converter is a good idea?

TASCAM IF-AE8HR TDIF to AES/EBU Format Converter.

Yes, you can use the t/dif connections with a converter to get your aes/ebu connections in as well.

And yes, ADAT light pipe is the optical connection as well.
