[oops, i meant the title to be "Uh-Oh Vikings, but I've had a couple of drinks]
From the kcchiefs.com training camp wrap up from Thursday:

The Chiefs will finally lock it up with some different colored jerseys on Friday. The team will leave River Falls around 2:00 PM for a two-hour bus trip to Mankato, MN, training camp home of the Minnesota Vikings. Practice plans are highlighted by a full-contact scrimmage consisting of rookies and first-year players.

Looks like our draftees and other assorted young-uns are headed your way Deebs! We're sending a QB who spent last year on our practice squad, Casey Printers. I've never been a big fan of his but from what I read he's having a good camp so far.
Now you all don't have any more former pro wrestlers masquerading as linemen do you? Man, Bob Gretz still talks about that guy. And not in a good way, either :D

Aug 03, 2007 06:36 am Yeah, that time of year, for our teams to get in a fight at training camp, gotta love it.
The Vikings are gonna suck *** big time this year...for the first time in as long as I can remember I actually don't care this year. Hell, Brock Lesnar had heart, man, he rocked...but now he is an MMA cage fighter.

Tad,
River Falls is only 30 minutes from here, and I'm taking the boys over there for the KC Chiefs Family Fun Night next Wednesday. I'll drop your name with the players and maybe I'll be granted full access.
Jim
PS...It's almost Fantasy Football time again. A great diversion from the hum-drum of every day life, and and actual reason to pay attention to the NFL when your hometown team is sucking it up.

I'm afraid to ask. They fight in cages now?
Aug 03, 2007 08:40 am A lot of MMA is in cages...come on, Herb, keep up here. Typically 20-24 foot octagon shaped chain link cages...of course now the UFC is trademarking the octagon shape so many outfits, like the guys I train with, use hexagons...
Aug 03, 2007 08:48 am Sorry. When I heard cages, I got this vision of cockfighting. OK, it's a 'ring' with a different construction.
Yes, I admit that I don't keep up with MMA.

It's a lot more "street fight" type thing, running your opponent up against the chain link, pickup them up and dropping them on the ground against the cage they have nowhere to go...I think the "cage" look adds to the ambiance of a "fight".

Aug 04, 2007 11:00 pm Indeed the cage. I think it reminds me of the last of the Mad Max movies. Mad Max Thunderdome. Soon it will be a crowd chanting just like they did in the movie.

I can see the bloodthirsty crowd on national TV already.
And indeed, Brock did have his heart in the game. In a way I wish he would have had better results and been given a better shot. But hey, he is probably making better money in the cage now.

Aug 05, 2007 12:59 am Brock may be a good athlete but he wasn't much of a football player. Its tough to try to pick up football later in life. Pretty much everybody playing in the NFL has been bred, born and raised playing football.
But hey it looks like the joint practices/scrimmages went off very well. I could tell that coach Edwards and the def. coord. Cunningham were very excited to see the young guys in live situations. It sounds like the KC defense just tore up the Minnie offense. And it sounds like our young QB Croyle had a good outing as well. Tonight was another scrimmage/joint practice but in River Falls instead. I'm anxious to hear all about it!
Here's some verbiage on the practices, definitely slanted from a KC point of view:

I can't wait to see our D in action this year. I think they're going to be a top 10, if not top 5 defense. Lots of young talent, and LOTS of speed at linebacker and d-line.
