hello, ive been recording my amp with one mic and the sound comes through my headphones through one side. However, I would like to record guitar and hear audio on the left and right side of the headphones. i have an art tps II which connects to my FMR RNC and the rnc connects to my ESI julia. i listen to the audio through my behringer 502. basically, i would like to get a quality single channel mic pre and would like to hear audio in both ears while ensuring highest quality from the audio path setup to soundcard. whats the best way to set this up?

Do you have it on a stereo track?

Yep, plus it also depends on where your headphones are connected. If you connect your headphones after your computer (coming out of the soundcard) then it should be stereo, if, like mentioned, you are on a mono track. If you're recording onto a stereo track, then only the one side will get filled in.

If you're plugging them into a mono jack before the soundcard, then you'll only hear one side.

the RNC connects to one rca input on the soundcard, and i record left side. the recorded audio fills both sides when the sonar track is set for left, but id still like to hear audio on the right and left side of my headphones while i play and record at the same time

If the latency stays down (which it should with the Juli@) then you should be able to plug your headphones into the 502.

I still don't know where the headphones are plugged into.

Thinking this through;

mono mic signal ->
ART TPS ->
RNC ->
channel 1 input on Juli@ ->
recording track inside Sonar. This should be recorded as a mono track.

Now, when sonar plays back, it should be;

sonar 2 track playback ->
Juli@ 2 channel output (left & right) ->
Behr 502 inputs (left & right) ->
headphones of some sort.

Sonar should play back the signal as stereo all by itself, from a mono source.

headphones connect to thephone jack on the 502, and yes i can hear the recorded audio in both left and right channels after i record, but im talking about hearing the audio from my amp in both left and right headphone while i play, so when i start recording i actually hear my guitar on both Left and right headphone
