Hello Guys

What a helpfull looking forum.

my name is joe. i live in mansfield nottingham.

i am after some help and advice, i have been recording for the last year or so just using my -

computer
song music studio
m audio blackbox
and mic.

mainly acoustic songs

i get some good recordings with this equipment, - the software is not the best it only allows me to use effects such as reverb etc,

anyway

i am now going to buy more equipement to get a better sound.

as i say i am new to this sort of set up.

and so far i "think" i need (or get away with using)

computer
software
mixer - www.dv247.com/invt/31552/
a good vocal mic
my guitar effect module

forget drums at this stage

what i am wanting to know is

if i buy this mixer

www.dv247.com/invt/31552/

can i plug this straight into my computer and have for example 3 instruments playing at the same time, and have 3 simultanisly tracks being recorded at once onto my computer and will i be able to see this tracks on the screen as they are being recorded..

any help would be appreciated

if so what good cheap software will i need to do this.

Not sure what your sound card is, therefore, I assume it's a simple stock card, which means it's likely a single stereo input (or two mono). In order to record three tracks at once, and keep them each on their own track, you need a sound card that has at least three inputs such as www.homerecordingconnecti...UDIOPHILE192090

Ya, the XENYX mixers are USB capable, but are limited to only two tracks going in at once. however you can submix the third instrument in, but it doesn't sound like that is what you want to do.

The card dB listed will do up to 4 tracks at one time. Which that sounds like more of what youare looking to do.
