It's in the 'Rock' catagory titled 'Accept The Saviour'. Would like to know any pointers to help with a better recording on this. It was recorded in an open livingroom area with some sheets for buffers, and through my Edirol UA-20 to computer on Sonar software. My first time using an electric guitar and wah pedal in my recordings instead of a midi guitar. My biggest problem has been trying to get the bass and kick drum to not blend so much together. Any help or input would be much appreciated.

I think some of what might be causing the kick and bass to be hard to distinguish is the wah guitar itself. It is covering a very wide frequency range is kind of masking and making it tuff to listen through to the rest of the song.

That said though I did manage to sweep through an EQ and pick up a lot of the good stuff in there. That is pretty good for the most part.

My suggestion is to try and cut a little of the high end off the wah guitar part and settle it back in the mix a good deal. Something like that may also be better in small doses. Like during the intro, then either cut it way back or out all together for the verse and may bring it back a little during the chorus or something.

The bad thing with a wah on a rhythm guitar is that it can become almost like fingernails on a black board to the listener. A little can go a long way.

I will have to give another listen later and see if I can find any other reason you might be having trouble with the kick and bass.

One question, are you using a drum machine by chance? IF so you can try and change up the velocity of the kick hits a little here and there.

I'm using some drum beats from a site I downloaded and spliced together. Yeah, I was thinking a little diet on the rhythm wah might be good. I'm purchasing my studio goodies this weekend, so I might wait and remix with a real bass in stead of a midi, and see if that helps also. Thanks for the input.
