I'm trying to multitrack quitar record on Sonar XL using guitar via preamp and when I record the second second track, the first records along with it. Simple as it may seem, I can't seem to find a solution in the manual. I'm recording via stereo soundcard option, using Soundblaster Live with KX Drivers.
Apologies for such a simple question. I eventually intend to use a decent mike for a better sound, but I'm just starting out.

Have a look at the volume control on your task bar (Windows mixer) and go to the Record control.
Is that set to record from Line-in?
It sounds like it's set to record from "What U Hear" if that's the case then It will record everything coming from the speakers so you need to check Line-in.

It will also record from line-out. Make sure you have that muted or dissabled when you are recording to the line in.
