Pretty aggressive from half-guard. Often those hits are wimpy...he was laying 'em in there pretty solid. Admittedly, he fought a scrub...dude has a 2-6 record, since his original opponent was not approved to fight for "medical reasons".

Hey Db . Im a huge MMA fan and have competed at an amateur level as well! I thought that k-1 dynamite was the worst production ever! The commentary was suddenly like it was 1998 and dennis rodman?! do you agree?

Yeah, I agree, K-1 I am not a huge fan of...well, I don't mean that as much as I am not a huge fan of the amatuerish productions they put on. UFC has great productions, but they are getting increasingly watered down to fit more in with mainstream broadcasting to cash in on the money. Joe Rogan is a great MMA commentator, he knows his stuff and is a highly trained martial artist as well.

Here is Joe Rogan on a Fear Factor outtake standing up to a dude giving him problems. I would love to see that finished, he's a tough dude.

I have trained MMA for a couple years or better myself, work security at events and worked the bell a couple times, they are great fun. I have never gotten in the cage (was supposed to then got injured) but the gym I train at trains pretty hard. Having just turned 40 I am dialing it back a bit after coming back from the injury (ripped cartilage and crap in my knee).

All that said, Lesnar looked pretty good. His original opponent couldn't fight so he got this scrub to fight. I can't wait to see him really challenged.

Ya, it would be good to see him against an little more aggressive fighter. Not taking anything away fro Lesnar at all though, he pretty much used his weight to keep the guy down while he pummeled him. Not the most exciting to watch but a good start to KO the guy in a matter of a minute or so.

Cliffriff, where did you compete and train? What styles did you train, BJJ and MuayThai I presume? How'd you do?

Lesnar moves pretty damn good for a big guy, world class wrestler in college. I saw him in training camp with the Vikings, and I am still stunned they cut him and kept a couple of the losers they did...typical Vikings moves, though.

Lesnar may have a great MMA career ahead of him. Training in the same gym Sean Sherk came from and being taught by Royce Gracie himself...the dude has some great fights ahead of him.

Hey Db. I originally just trained at a facility my friends built in their Barn for MMA and took Jiu jitsu at college off of my Criminology professor. I competed Amatuer MMA at Arnold Classic 05 and placed 3rd; the guy I armbarred, I befriended and began training at his facility called fightlab www.fightlabinc.com thats my girlfiend on the main page. I then began taking gracie Jiu jitsu at a Pedro Sauer school in Pittsburgh Called Steel City Martial Arts. And this school is where I train mainly. I have competed in many tournaments and have done pretty well. I am really focusing on Jiujitsu and not MMA as much anymore. I am a timekeeper for Next Level fights in stubenville Ohio as well. Pretty good gig for once every couple months

That's cool. I train at a Royce Gracie network gym. Royce is coming in October, otherwise Rodrigo comes every 4-5 months for a seminar. I main areas lately are Kenpo Karate and Kickboxing. I like BJJ, but with my knee issues the grappling hurts it, once it gets back into shape I'll start rolling again. The gym Brock and Sean Sherk train at here in Minnesota is a Pedro Sauer place...took a couple seminars up there.

I have virtual given up the "MMA" thing as well, and am concentrating more on just practical self defense. I just train with and cheer for the younger guys at the gym that get in the cage. Roll with 'em at the gym, but leave it at that :-)
