Hey guys.
I've decided to swap from PC based recording to a Mac, simply because i'm at university and nearly all our stuff done there is on macs using logic, so if i have it at home it should help me get more proficient.

Looking at the market, an imac seems the best option as i just want something that works, doesnt have to be right up there, but i have questions about how to rig up an audio interface to the imac.

at the moment ive got a delta 1010 going into my PC whereby when i got it, i opened up the pc, put in the card and there we go, but looking at imacs, they dont look like the sort of things to be opened up and tinkered with.

in summary can i use my delta 1010 with an imac? if not in the usual way, how?

cheers guys

I don't think you can use your delta with an imac, you can with a G4 or G5 but i don't think imac's are made to be tinkered with. I have an older imac and the only interface i can use is a USB one.

yea thts wat i thought, looking at the newer imacs i dont think there would be enough room in there for a pci card ne way lol.

Ok, so im looking at a USB interface - i need with with at least 8 analog inputs as i'm recording drums, the one i'm looking at at the moment is the MOTU 828MKII, thats get plenty of channels and has a USB interface. Any reason why that wouldnt work? i have little experinece of macs thus far so am not sure wat would and wouldnt work.

from my experiance with USB , I've only been able to record a max of 4 tracks at a time . now if you have a firewire connection you'd be set to record 8+ channels.
