very nice, i rambled through, and it's got good mojo

though, a few items, a few windows are larger than the screen i'm on (1024x768) though it didn't really need to be. The main page was because of the top graphic, which could be under the 1024 size, to fit nicely. The image shows 1138 wide, so I'd think that could be dropped to 1000 or something, still be full screen width, but not create the sliders on the bottom. Also, on the image, you could make use of the alternate text, or title tag, to put in a little more info about a picture. It's not always seen, but is a nice touch if people hover over the picture.

also, the blog and myspace page opens in the same window. I'd think to open those in their own window. More and more people are using multi-tab browsers, so it could open a page in separate tab. Course, that's my opinion, some people prefer it single window.

But the feel and flow is very nice. I'm on FF 2.0, btw.

Thanks for looking pjk. Good to know about some windows being wider than they need to be, i didn't know that, i'll sort that now. Is it just the home page that's like that?

I'll do the text under pictures as well, good call, i know how to do that, i used that code for the links.

I haven't found out how to do 'open in new window' automatically yet, i'll find that out and put it to use.

Thanks again dude!

Get the FireFox "Web Developer" toolbar, it's a must have, you can resize your browser to different sizes and see which ones are too big...no page should be bigger than a 1024 can fit. That said, my eyes personally have grown tired of light text on dark backgrounds...I used to do it a lot myself, and still do at times, but my eyes tire out quicker on that color scheme.

open new window is just a target="_blank" in the href tag.

Rather than coming soon pages, just pull the pages down. There are few things people hate more than clicking a link just to see a "coming soon" image...

I'm on IE, we don't have firefox, though the toolbar sounds handy. I doubt i'll be doing much more after putting this site together anyhoo - apart from work stuff which is usually using a CMS anyway. I just sorted the open in new window things, but thanks. Amazing how much you can find on the net really quickly and i've never hand-coded before - it's actually a lot of fun!

The coming soon pages won't be there longer than a couple of days so i'm sure they're tolerable for that amount of time.

Nothing i can do about the colour scheme i'm afraid dB, that's definitely staying - better not visit my blog or myspace either!

IE sucks ***, but IE7 does have some web dev tool bar, I have it, but always forget where I got it.

I figured the color scheme was set, I am simply stating what user studies say, and what affects me personally. Bands and artists of all sorts often go for the light on dark. It is bad to do, but it is artsy looking, so it's a balance. I visit the sites just the same, just can't stay their long.

Yeah, it probably doesn't make for the easiest reading but i like it. I'll see if i can find a web developer toolbar just in case but i do quite like the ignorance of not really knowing anything and figuring it out from there.

Rigsby, nice indeed. Although yes, I am in the same boat as dB. I stare at a light on dark, not white on black but pretty close while writing controller code so its tuff on me as well. But one suggestion I'll toss out from having seen tons of sites with the white on black scheme is that some are using a different font. One size larger possibly and slightly bolder with smoother lines. That really seems to ease the eye strain at least for me. Instead of using the standard Ariel font try using Ariel Alternative or something. And just going from a 10 font to say 11 or 12 will make a difference.

That aside though I loved it. Cool use of the pix you have. I'll be stopping back to check out the progress as you go along in the next couple of days.

I had one I tried on my mediacom site a few years ago. I'll look and see if I can find what it was. It was not a real odd font either, just a bit bolder and smoother in those color schemes.

I don't mind the colour scheme myslef.

It all looks good but you need to get that text tabled up.

Should look Great when your finished.

Haha.. another vote for lining the homepage text up. I'm just not going to do it i'm afraid. It's in a table on every other page on the site but i like it just the way it is on the homepage.

Anyway, thanks for checking it out Bleak!

Ya know, one thing you may want to consider that is actually a proven tactic to deal with the white on black issue is to not use the extremes. Meaning, rather than white on black, use off-white on the darkest gray you can without being black. Even the slightest degree of difference from extreme white and black helps dramatically from what I have read.

In the process of making my site now too, www.afroduckent.com/

Added some ajax loading stuff but its not exactly what I want, Im going to make it hide what it loads until its done loading and then fade out.

Also its got a cool webcam that I've setup, putting 2 more in the booth too.

Rigsby, lookin good my man!!

Funny enough I scroll to the bottom and there sits Little Rug. That tune was on the very first HRC mp3 CD I burned for the car. I simply love that piece. And interesting movement through time for me. I get some really intense visuals listening to it, I just wish it was a little longer.

Yeah, we never did get the 'save the music' project up and running did we? Bummer. Yeah, that was ages ago, I was still in my twenties then. Sweet little tune.

I've put some pictures up on the art page, recording pics are still to come (there are so many hard to choose between them) but there's some live stuff and a few of my paintings up there if you want to take a look.

I actually found the drive with all or most of the music on it. Even found the cover art that had been submitted. I am still gong to try and get it together but right now with the father in law in bad shape most of our time is directed toward my inlaws care. But I am slowly getting at putting a track list together and then posting what I have and how much time we could still get on a CD.

Cool paintings by the way! I like the Hancock Trio one myself but all are very good.

Thanks Noize!

Yeah, that'd be good to do the comp, though some of us might be slightly dubious about having our old efforts on there. Maybe. Actually, i'm probably not, that tune is okay even if it's not where i'm at now.

Sorry to hear about your father-in-law, my best wishes to you and yours dude, sincerely.

Ya, the funny thing is all the tracks are actually still pretty fresh really. And none are low quality or lacking in anyway. A couple just need a little touch of mastering and they would be good. When I get it together I will post some of them to refresh the memories and if anyone wants to submit a redone track we can go that route then. But I think honestly they are all pretty good. I was even thinking of doing a then and now type of thing for those that may have come a long way since then. That would actually allow for something fresh from you as well.

And thanx for the well wishes indeed.
