Please somebody familiar with this program HELP! I use Cakewalk's Fruity Loops as my VST plugin because I have a million beats already on there. The volume is fine when it just plays through cubase. When I create audio track to record my beats though, volume is barely heard! Also when I record vocals through the correct channel-same problem. I have changed volume on the channels in the mixer and volume on my interface where the mic is with no success...Cubase is confusing to me compared to others. What am I doing wrong??

search mastering and gain staging...

also limiting and compression...

it's totally normal for this to happen. getting levels "hot" is something to work at, and it's easy to overcook aswell.

may the schwartz be wit you.

The description you give points to the signal chain going through the audio interface and into the PC. I am guessing you have no mixer you are going through? If not you are probably not getting hot enough signal to the audio interface. A microphone needs a pre amp for sure to get to an acceptable level for the interface but I am not sure how you are routing the signal from Fruity out and back into your interface.
