Channel inserts for multi-track recording

I have a Phonic MU1822X mixer which has 6 Channel inserts on the back. These seem to give an output signal, so can I use them for outputting 6 separate tracks into an audio interface?

I have an Edirol FA101 which has 8 line-inputs, and I want to record 6 separate drum tracks into my (linux-based) DAW... any additional advice?

Cheers,
JB

Yeah, you can use them as direct outs. They're for sticking compressors and limiters etc in the channel but double as outputs.

If you are using a standard cable make sure and only insert the jack to the first click. Otherwise you could cause a bit of noise.
