Although I'm not familiar with Toneport,
I do have an SR-16, and I've been using it for
years. I run four cables out from it: Two
from the main out, and two from the aux out.
These go to a Behringer UB 1202; from there
I route them to the sound card (E-mu 0404),
and then into the DAW (Magix).
The sr-16 allows the user to send individual
sounds to different channels, live out (as
opposed to MIDI, which the SR-16 has, but I've
never used, though I'm sure you can do what I do
in MIDI). I divided up the different drum songs
I made into separate parts, panned hard L or R
and then sent to Main or Aux out. All recordings
are sent as analog sound to the mixer (that is,in real time), and then to the card and finally
the DAW.
The SR-16 is the most reliable electronic
device I've ever owned, and that's saying some-
thing. For about 16 years (!) it has worked
without replacing the battery, and I've never lost data.
