***questions about background noise in my recordings***

Hey all,

Im recording at home; USB interface. When I'm recording back Im getting Radio background noise in the background. Now, when I move around the XLR cables between my microphone and preamp the noise gets louder or quieter....is this a position in the room, or electronics near by? What can I do to get rid of this problem. I don't want to have to record vocals quiet and then amplify them (vst) I'd rather be able to record them at a louder volume. This is really starting to become a problem.....
If anyone has an answer pllllleeease help (I'm new at this stuff)
Thanks,

Mike

First step... What sort of radio are you getting? Broadcast, public service or other? Can you understand what they are saying? Depending on the service involved that may point to your ultimate solution.
