The other day i turned on the power to my monitor and the right side didnt work, i found out because the volume on the left 1 wouldnt turn all the way down and u can still hear the music even tho the volume was all the way down and i put my ear next to the right monitor and there was no sound coming out. So i took out the speaker wire and plugged them back in. Then i double checked to see if the plugs were pluged in right in the sound card and it was all right. So im not sure what is goin on with the monitor any oppinions to what it could be?

process of elimination.

First, swap the cables going into the speakers. if the the right one still doesn't work, then the speaker is bad, or the jack inside, or x-over, something in the speaker, anyways.

If the left doesn't work, but the right now does, then the speakers are fine, the problem is further upstream.

Put the cables back.

Swap the cables where they plug into your signal (soundcard, or amp, or whatever). If the right side is still not working, then the cable is bad. If the left side is now not working, then the problem is in the device that's sending signal, either your soundcard, or your amp.

Hopefully you get the idea on how this works, keep eliminating a known working part, and swap things around to verify something is known to be working.

ok so i switched the cables, when i switched the inputs cables on the monitor the right 1 still worked, when i switch the input cables on the soundcard the right 1 still worked, so im thinkin that its the left speaker. Something is wrong with it for some odd reason, maybe because i bought these for a 100 dollers because they were already used, off musiciansfriend.com

seems like it would have to be the speaker, if you plugged the left speaker cable into the right speaker, and there was sound. Something went bad with the speaker.

Now you can troubleshoot the speaker, or see if you can return them (probably not, if they're a used sale).

It may just be the jack in the speaker box, or maybe a crossover.

Though, for 100$ it may not be worth the trouble trying to fix, but then again, it might be something simple like a loose wire, or a loose ground solder connection.

Anyway, it's worth opening up and taking a look. If you can solder, you may fix it for free.

The KRK's are very flat for monitor's in there price range. I would definitely check out several pairs if you have that option. Best advice is bring in a CD you are very familiar with to have them play it on several pairs to compare them.
