MX9000 - dead bus!

I have a new Behringer MX9000, and when I got it everything worked fine. I never have had to use busses 7 and 8 while recording, but i knew that they worked. Last night, i was toying around, and notice that bus 7 was 40dB less than bus 8 (This wasn't like this before!). Today, bus 7 is completely dead!

I opened it up to poke around for loose cables, but there weren't any :/

I put it all back together, and tested it out now, and i got the 40dB issue again. After trying to assign group 7 to the main mix, it went dead again.

Anyone have ideas? I don't need it fixed ASAP, I dont plan on using 4 buses any time soon. Just going to record everything seperate and do single track outputs to my software rather then assign it to a bus.

Also, I just noticed this, but I think it was there before. Whenever I turn off or on my mixer, all the -20db lights flick on for about a second, and a few lights on my meterboard do the samething. Is this normal? It does it also whenever I turn it off, but about a second after I actually flip the switch.

The lights thing is part of an internal test when switched on or off, so yes that is normal.

As for the buss, now that is not a good thing. IT can be one of two things usually. The buss assign switch on certain channels is bad and can cause that problem. Or the buss itself is bunk.

Behringer sets up their boards on a card system, which is nice for repairing things yourself. So you can order just the buss section to replace it. But if the unit is brand new I would take it in for authorized service. IF not new and you have the time you can always take it for service as well.

The way the component boards are set up as modules makes it difficult to repair just one piece of it.

I've got a behringer mixer myself and several of the preamps seem to be going out. I'm very much doubting the quality of this particular brand at this point...

I've owned at least 6 differant Behringer boards and desk's and not one of them have given me any Pre amp trouble at all. I even dumped a can of coke into my sub channels on my old 24 x 4 desk, with it fully powered up. And it came out working better once it dried. So I cannot gripe about anything going wrong with any of the other Behringer gear I own either. Although these days I cannot say much for a few pieces of their gear that I see having trouble in threads here.
