Does anyone have any insight about Finalizers? I'm looking for a "relatively" inexpensive solution for mastering my recordings. I'm considering a TC Electronic Finalizer Express, but I've heard that there are some issues with that unit. Can anyone shed some light on this subject? Anyone have a suggestion for a different unit besides the BEHRINGER models? I've heard way too many bad things about their products in general to consider them.

Well, I don't have any suggestions, but I would like to say you shouldn't count Behringer out! I've never had any trouble with their stuff and I use it all the time. They make great equipment, and their prices are awesome. There are people who seem to be out to get Behringer, but in most cases it's not because of the quality of their products. Most everyone here uses their stuff and likes it.

After reading several posts in these forums about Behringer's products, I'll definitely put them back in the running. I mainly just want to find the best possible solution for my needs without having to spend 10 grand to get it!

The TC unit did have some software issue's that as far as I know have been addressed and taken care of. The only worry would be if you purchased a used unit that had not been upgraded software wise. I too am a die hard Behringer user, and have been for year's with absolutly no trouble with any of their gear at all.

So, would the Behringer Finalizer 9024 Ultra-dyne Pro be the recommended product? Do you guys have any experience with it or know where I might be able to get some objective opinions about it?

I own the Ultra Curve DSP 8024 which is the same mainframe and I have had good luck with it. It is fully programable and also respond's via midi very well. You can control all parameter's and call up any of your own preset's instanly. They also have a software control panel available on their website that work's very well, so ou can pop it in your rack and run it right from your PC. That is how I have mine set up, in fact all my gear is set up to run like that. The unit is very responsive and has a nice variety of preset's that work well for most application's. As well you can tweak your own and store them for recall later.

Fantastic. I'll look into that one then. I'm not in a huge hurry to make the purchase since I still have quite a bit of work to get done to finish the record that I'm working on. I just want to start thinking about a solution for mastering it when it's done.

Have you considered a software mastering solution? iZotope's "Ozone" plugin give you a mastering EQ, Multi-band compressor, Peak Limiter, Mastering Reverb, Multi-band Stereo Enhancement and a Multi-band Frequency Enhancer - not to mentiont that it looks amazing too =)

Check out their site: (where you can download a trial version) www.izotope.com/products/audio/ozone/index.html
