hey all this is my 1st post.. anyways im looking into getting a usb or firewire interface, im going to be recording my qs7 & micron as well as guitar electric and acoustic..

my question is if i want to have a stereo sound do i need to use both inputs on say the E-mu 0404 usb interface ? or would i need to use a mixer to mix r&l and send it to only 1 input on the interface.

while im here begging for help, anybody try the 0404 usb version yet ? not many reviews out there for them

heh, no begging necessary, welcome aboard Maxx.

regarding stereo, you'd want to do the 2 mics into 2 inputs on the 0404. Then you'd tell the software to create 1 stereo track, from 2 mono sources, or something similar. Usually, you can tell the software if you want two mono tracks, or 1 stereo track.

If you do the other way, then both left and right would be summed together, and put onto 1 track in your software, making it a mono track (which has both sides smushed together).

I've not used the device mentioned, sorry.
