Newbie--I'm just noodling around trying to make music.

I just discovered this forum. I'm a poet who has been making music-like noises using my keyboard to mix in with my poetry readings for use on the net or on CDs. I need all the help I can get. I was looking for a way of storing brief compositions on a forum so they can be shared and referred to. This sounds like a place I can do that. How do I upload?

Welcome aboard, there Don.

I believe that the Pro membership will allow uploading and storing of material, but the space is limited.

You may be better off creating a myspace presence, as I think they'll let you have more space than on here. I don't know that storing text on this site will be the way to go either, but dB may shed some more light on the subject.

As well you can use www.nowhereradio.com to upload your music and link to it from here. Although the HRC Pro has a few more perks like the Virtual Studio for collaborations and the like. I know some other folks use Soundclick as well. And then just link it here.

By the way, welcome to HRC.

Everybody has a blog that can store whatever textual content you want, it could be a great place to store a journal of poems. Space for HRC Pro members is going to be upgraded soon, I just haven't gotten around to it yet...

Welcome to HRC.

I know of poetry forums galore and text blog space. There is lots of space I know about for photos. What I am looking for is space for audio files. Most of the blog sites don't accept that kind of file. You have given me some usewful references. Thanks.

I am just started learning music.

Don, I just listened to that piece, and I have only one question:

How did you get access to my diary?

I would say teh 2 I posted above would be a good bet as they allow a description of what youa re uploading. Then as I stated simply link it here and people will give it a listen. I don't know what the limit is on NWR or Soundclick but I'm sure there would be enough space. And the myspace idea is great as well. They seem to be generating loads of hits for any type of music or whatever.

I just started using Soundclick, and I like their features, but navigating the site can be a little confusing. They don't specify the limit on the maximum allowable number of uploads, but there has to be one.

I've gotten used to it now after listening to a couple hundred tunes posted there. And a good deal of them from here. It is a bit confusing but it can be navigated and their player seems to be much better then most of the other free sites out there. Acid Planet as well is good bu they cater more to the electronica type genre's.

The one I tried is very complicated and I couldn't figure out how to get upload space. I'm going to continue using my own web space and linking it here and elsewhere.

Thanks.
