I played bass in our local community choir last night, and thought it would be nice to record it on my laptop.

In setting up, and getting stuff ready to go, I forgot to hit the red button on my laptop.

d'oh!

About 2/3 way through I noticed the time numbers weren't moving, and starting recording.

I think this is a lesson for me: have someone else check my work, or, put a sticky note on the screen, which says: PUSH THE RED BUTTON!!!

duuuhhhhhh. Well, there's always next year =).

I'll post one or two songs after I go through them (well, 6 of them, anyway).

i tell you, it's always something isn't it. You probably double checked all the cables, made sure everything was routed properly etc., and then the simplest thing slips your mind. Seems to happen to me more often than I'd like to admit...

I was working on acoustic prject about 6 months ago and i wasn't getting any signal from one of the channels on my mixer . I checked the mic, the pre amp( all the on/off, pad switches ect) the compressor, cehcked the channel on the mixer, turned every thing on and off and unplugged each cable. I had a signal before i left for a smoke then i came back and it wasn't there ( i also muted the track) well after testing every peice of equipment, the problem was the F#$% cable, rookie move on my part. I lost about 45 min and i almost lost the singer becuase she was loosing ispiration.

Yep, its like playing the perfect take only to find you didn't actually arm the track. Or you armed the wrong track.
