Redrum in Reason 3.0

Hey I'm a newb at this, How would I cut my beats in the drum machine and make them start again in different places of the track, whenever I select to convert it to track notes, it plays it with the track but you can't see the notes appear on the track so I don't know how to crop and edit it. Any help with information on the redrum machine would be appreciated.

you could start a new pattern and leave it blank. Then go to the arrangement view (don't that's the official view) and then create a block with pattern 1 (containing the beat), and create a block with pattern 2 (you will have to use the automation tool in the redrum track) and then arrange the blocks and you're good to go.

That prolly doesn't make much sense, but hopefully will give you a place to start.

I sort of follow you, where is the automation tool at? and where is the arrangement view at? I am new to this program, until recently I have been using session and FL?

in the track window, as opposed to the rack window there is a little button (top left I think) that lets you switch from "arrangement view" to "track view" ("" are my terms). Highlight the redrum track in arrangement view and then click this button and it will show you the redrum track. At the bottom of the redrum thrack there is a little grey arrow that will expand into a list, and you can select which pattern you want to use. Select a patter A1 or A2 will prolly be what you want. Then use the pencil tool to draw which pattern you want at the bottom of the redrum track. Then click the first button I mentioned again and it will bring you back to arrangement view. Using the pencil tool again, you can select an area of a particular track and make a block that you can use to arrange a reccurring section, like pattern 1 or 2 or whatever. Hope that helps a bit more.

OR!!!!!

when you have programmed your track on say A1, right click on the redrum - there'll be an option springs up saying 'copy pattern to track'. hit that and it will be there on the piano roll sequencer track.

you then have to set up a blank patch on redrum (i use D8, never had toget that far yet!) and leave the redrum on that. otherwise it plays the pattern that is selected on the redrum AND the pattern in the sequencer. you can repeat this as much as you like, using different patterns and then using the 'copy pattern to rack' function.

this way gives you loads more freedom and less programming time, so if on the third bar you want to have a few grace notes or drop a kick, thenyou simply rmove it on the sequencer window.

never fails
