wassnt sure where to post this... sorry...

just kinda finished me new setup since moving...

got me decks one side of the room, wired up to me computer on t'other side. i've had to use 2 long cables, one stereo phono to phono, and one stereo phono to single 3.5mm jack to go into my soundcard.

now, when i go to record anything from my decks, using line in of course, i get some radi osignal, slightly distorted, but coming through loud and clear? makes no difference if my dj gear is turned on or off, still comes through....

i know i may have to shell out on shielded cable i suppose, but how does my soundcard/lead/dj setup pick up radio and then make it play on my pc speakers/soundcard?

i used to have it setup the same way in my old place (but less cable) and never had this problem...

what do i do?

you could be lucky and check a burned cd mix on another system.....if it's not playin' the radio sounds, that means your monitors are pickin' 'em up....if that's the case, you just gotta learn to ignore it....

if it's on the recorded cd when you playback on another completely seperate player (think car) that means, you're converters are 'hearing' it....so what do you have between your a/d converter and your input device?....try disconnecting the mic or instrument (leaving all other cables plugged in) and troubleshoot the problem backwards (signal path wise) until you find the exact componet where the problem is beeing inducted......like i said, if it's your monitors, you can learn to ignore it, or shield it....if it's a preamp, you're gonna hafta shield/isolate it.

The fat one always watches us.

I had the same problem a few years ago- with a tascam 4 track and a tape deck- no "radio tuner" hardware in the loop. Drove me nuts. try a little tin foil here and there to get rid of the radio distortion (so it comes in nice and clear) and marvel at your ablilty to build a radio reciever like Macgiver.....

well the set up is such 2x technics 1210 turntables and one cdj player, goping through a vestax mixer and down the line to me computer, there's no actual amp involved..

gonna try a ferrite...

The ferrite might solve the problem. Otherwise, shielding is the only answer there. Odds are really good you just happen to have the cables laid out perfect to act as an antena.

Also, make absolutely certain there are no power cables running any where near the audio cables. Especially not running parralell to them. That will do it as well. Acts like and amplifier for the RF signal.
