saw an article on a new rock band recently which set me thinking...all their songs were in Bm and they only used three chords per song, so ive been thinking of cool things that ya could do to challenge yourself in writing...
1. one minute album - loads of tracks but none over 1 minute...plenty of time for a verses chorus and solo
2. three chord album * like the one at the top, but having 3 chords for the whole album (status quo style!)
etc etc...anyone else got some cool ideas?

Dec 23, 2002 03:30 pm heres another one, ive always wanted to do a rock album entirely electronically except for the vocals...drum loops and keyboards doing rock songs...if anyone can do a song like that id love to do a vocal for it btw, punky electronic rock!
Dec 23, 2002 05:45 pm there is a LOT of that stuff on the market. The cool thing is it would be easy to produce as far as every part being in time and stuff cuz it would all be sequenced.
Visit many Acid user sites or FruityLoops user sites and you will find a lot of electronically sequenced music. Run the vocals through a vocoder and you can get that pretty electronic sounding to :-)

Dec 23, 2002 05:48 pm cooooooooooooool, id rather 'keep it in the family' and do it with someone on here though...anyone? another cool concept : an album with a load of songs with different singers on each song
Dec 23, 2002 06:00 pm That's cool, I would rather see stuff "kept in the family" as well, it's cool to see folks collaborating around here :-)

Dec 24, 2002 12:01 am Flame- I'm up for it. I can sequence some stuff and send you the wav file or something then you can add vocals, send it back to me and I'll add vocals, then mix and master and we can put it up on mp3.com or something.
Dec 24, 2002 07:11 am NO, not mp3.com, look at www.broadjam.com
I am negotiating a possible partnership with these guys, WAY better than that lame mp3.com, and they have a limited free option as well...check 'em out, very cool stuff.

Dec 27, 2002 10:15 pm Hey, I'll join in on the electronic jam. Do you guy's use Fruity Loop's or Rebirth? If so then we can just send the file's back and forth that way. Or if you have synth's what are they? I do alot of stuff with guy's where we just name the synth part and then send the midi file's back and forth, and hope the other guy get's a close call on the synth patch we origanally used. It can end up pretty funky sometimes.

Dec 29, 2002 11:07 am im having nothing to do with the music, im just gonna do some vocals over whatever loki (or yourself, or both) supply, send the files back and let you go from there mixing it or whatever... gonna be good though!
Dec 29, 2002 11:31 pm I did a concept record once called 575. The songs were no longer than 1 minute each and the lyrics were in the form of Hai Ku.
Dec 29, 2002 11:40 pm 1. one minute album - loads of tracks but none over 1 minute...plenty of time for a verses chorus and solo
Short music for short people.
2. three chord album * like the one at the top, but having 3 chords for the whole album (status quo style!)
