Pro Tools Plugins

know of any good, well trusted, safe, won't eat my computer free plugins for Pro Tools? Specifically a phaser, I can't believe the top recording/editting program comes fully equipped without a phaser. If there aren't any free ones, what are the prices on some decent ones?

I'm just guessing, but I don't think there's anything free for pro-tool$.

im guessing you have pro-tools LE... right? if so its not really the top recording software, where pro-tools HD systems probably are. I find that is the only problem with Pro-tools le is that its hard to find cheap plug-ins for it. I dont know of any, BUT i do know there are things called "wrappers" that are supposed to let you use VST plug-ins with pro-tools.

somebody on here has probably got a better answer then me..

good luck

First off, what version of PT do you have? IS it VST capable? Otherwise there are very few, maybe 10 at tops that are TDM type pluggins for PT that are free. You can try searching KVR www.kvraudio.com/ for a free one if your version is VST ready.

And honestly, PT is not really the top recording and editing program anymore. I would guess they just didn't consider a phaser to be that important. I have 4 of them in Sonar 5 and know Cubase as well comes with at least one.

I have LE7, not the HD. I don't know if it's VST compatible or how I could make it compatible. I could always try it, where can I find good VST plugins?

I believe that what you should be looking for is RTAS plug-ins. That may help in your search a bit as I don't think you can use VST's.... at least that is my understanding.

I listed the URL for KVR above, that will have both RTAS and VST pluggins available ther.

Pro-tools Le, no matter what the version, only takes AudioSuite and RTAS plug-ins. Thats why i suggest a wrapper, to let your use VST Plug-ins becuase there are almost 0 Free RTAS plug-ins

I dont think there is a free wrapper out there. But FXpansion is probably the best wrapper out there for VST to RTAS conversion. It will give you the ability to use all the free pluggins that are available in VST format. And there are tons of good free pluggins out there to be had, some are much better then the pay for pluggins that are available from some manufacturer's.

Here is a link to the FXpansion wrapper page. www.fxpansion.com/product-rtasadapter-main.php
